by LH Staff Editor on August 3, 2011

Devon Energy plans to begin exploration and delineation of its liquids-rich gas and oil acreage across several emerging shale plays in 2011. The company has assembled over one million acres across several booming plays that stretch from Louisiana all the way to Colorado and Michigan. Investors and mineral owners alike will be waiting to hear results from wells in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale (Louisiana and Mississippi), the Mississippian Oil Play (Oklahoma and Kansas), the Niobrara Shale (Colorado), and the Utica Shale (Michigan and Ohio)

The company has assembled 1.1 million net acres targeting new oil and liquids-rich gas opportunities across multiple basins in the U.S. Devon plans to drill more than 30 wells this year targeting the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, Niobrara Shale, Mississippian Lime, Ohio Utica Shale and the A1 Carbonate and Utica Shale in Michigan.
