Kalkaska County MI: Mineral Rights Deeds Missing

by Kenneth E. DuBose on July 22, 2010

Kalkaska County reports missing mineral rights deeds:

“Since April, we have had an average of 40 to 50 people in our office throughout the day with only three staff people,” said JoAnn DeGraaf, the County’s Register of Deeds. “We are seeing instances of the records being moved where other searchers cannot easily find them. My staff files the film once searchers have finished their copies to ensure it’s not misfiled. At the end of each night we take an inventory of film to determine what is not in the drawer. On the extreme end of the spectrum we are finding film is being removed from the office.”
