Southlake TX extends Barnett Drilling Moratorium

Southlake, TX is still debating drilling inside the city. Looks like there won’t be any drilling in 2011.

“Gas drilling still divides the city, weeks after XTO Energy dropped plans to put wells in Southlake.
The latest showdown came on June 21 when the City Council extended the moratorium on new gas drilling applications by 120 days. Gas companies must wait until Nov. 17 before they can apply for a drilling permit. Southlake officials said they needed more time to finish a tougher ordinance to regulate gas drilling and pipelines.”
