Tesoro Refinery in Washington to Take Bakken Shale Oil

The Bakken Shale is booming and we’re seeing more and more signs of long-term growth and development. When companies begin committing to larger volumes in transportation agreements, it means they are confident the crude oil will be produced. Utilizing rail in the Bakken is EOG Resources’ primary shipping method. Hess and others also have long-term plans of utilizing railroads to efficiently move crude oil to markets throughout the US.

“Tesoro Corp. said Friday it will spend about $50 million to boost oil shipments by rail from fields in North Dakota to its refinery in Washington.””The San Antonio petroleum refiner said it will install facilities and rail cars to boost oil shipments from the current 2,000 barrels per day to 30,000. The deliveries will run from the Bakken shale region to Tesoro’s Anacortes, Wash. refinery.”
